About Kalish Wellness
At Kalish Wellness we believe in finding the underlying root cause of health issues, and empowering you with the knowledge and tools you need to heal and feel your best. Our integrated, functional medicine approach uses science-based labs to understand your body’s unique makeup, and design a custom supplement protocol.
Dr. Dan Kalish has spent the last 30 years studying how to interpret complex lab data to solve common complaints like fatigue, weight gain, depression, digestive problems and hormone imbalances.
We start with a free 15 minute consultation with our health coaching staff to determine if we are a good fit for what you are looking for. Then, our new clients work with one of our Board Certified staff members to take a detailed history and determine what lab testing will be best for you.
Once your lab results come back, Dr. Kalish will review them with you in detail. Based on your lab review session, Dr. Kalish will develop a comprehensive, personalized nutrition and lifestyle program for you to begin. Follow up consultations, health coaching and nutritional coaching sessions and retesting labs all happen as needed for each individual.
The functional medicine testing we do includes testing of your digestive health and microbiome, hormone testing and organic acids, amino acids and Omega 3 and Omega 6 essential fatty acid levels. We also look in detail at all the major nutrients such as Vitamin D, Vitamin C, the B Vitamins and more. Much of the work we do centers around understanding how genetics and your diet and life history have interacted so we can optimize your health and resolve chronic, long standing health problems.
We would love to help you achieve optimal health on your journey.

Dan Kalish is founder of The Kalish Institute, an online practice implementation training program dedicated to building Integrative and Functional Medicine practices through clinical and business courses. Since 2006, the Kalish Institute has helped develop practice models for over 6,000 practitioners world-wide. Graduates of The Kalish Institute include practitioners ranging from the Director of Integrative Medicine at Mayo Clinic to Cleveland Clinic Functional Medicine physicians.
In 2017, Dr. Kalish became lead faculty for the Institute for Functional Medicine’s Practice Implementation program. He also began a strategic collaboration with the Institute for Functional Medicine through co-development of a new course, My Practice Plan. The course curriculum focuses on the development of business models for those entering the field of Functional Medicine.
Dan received his B.A. in physiology and psychology from Antioch College and completed his chiropractic degree at Life West. He studied at the University of London and conducted research with biochemist Dr. Robin Monroe at Cambridge University. His educational pursuits led him to mentoring with renowned psychiatrist R.D. Lang, as well as John R. Lee, M.D., a pioneer in the use of progesterone. More recently, Dr. Kalish proudly served as an advisor to the Honorable Patrick Kennedy and participated in the first One Mind For Research Conference hosted by Harvard University where 200 of the nation’s top neuroscientists gathered to promote research on brain disorders.
In 2016, working with the Mayo Clinic’s Director of Integrative Medicine, Dr. Larry Bergstrom, Kalish published a research study on the Kalish Method. The study analyzed the impact of treatments used by Dan in his practice. Kalish is the author of three books, “The Five Pillars to Building a Successful Practice,” “The Kalish Method: Healing the Body Mapping the Mind” and “Your Guide to Healthy Hormones.”
Early in his educational experience, Dan spent two years in formal monastic training in Asia. He studied at a Zen monastery in Japan and also lived in a forest monastery in Thailand practicing mindfulness meditation techniques and transcribing Buddhist texts. These early experiences formed the basis for all his future work and led to a lifelong pursuit to bring the spiritual world’s healing power to bear in the patient treatment process.
Currently, Dan works closely with Dr. Richard S. Lord, focusing on curriculum development to advance clinical lab interpretation within functional medicine.
