Dr. Dan Kalish, DC, IFMCP

Dan Kalish is founder of The Kalish Institute, an online practice implementation training program dedicated to building Integrative and Functional Medicine practices through clinical and business courses. Since 2006, the Kalish Institute has helped develop practice models for over 6,000 practitioners world-wide. Graduates of The Kalish Institute include practitioners ranging from the Director of Integrative Medicine at Mayo Clinic to Cleveland Clinic Functional Medicine physicians.

In 2017, Dr. Kalish became lead faculty for the Institute for Functional Medicine’s Practice Implementation program. He also began a strategic collaboration with the Institute for Functional Medicine through co-development of a new course, My Practice Plan. The course curriculum focuses on the development of business models for those entering the field of Functional Medicine.

Dan received his B.A. in physiology and psychology from Antioch College and completed his chiropractic degree at Life West. He studied at the University of London and conducted research with biochemist Dr. Robin Monroe at Cambridge University. His educational pursuits led him to mentoring with renowned psychiatrist R.D. Lang, as well as John R. Lee, M.D., a pioneer in the use of progesterone. More recently, Dr. Kalish proudly served as an advisor to the Honorable Patrick Kennedy and participated in the first One Mind For Research Conference hosted by Harvard University where 200 of the nation’s top neuroscientists gathered to promote research on brain disorders.

In 2016, working with the Mayo Clinic’s Director of Integrative Medicine, Dr. Larry Bergstrom, Kalish published a research study on the Kalish Method. The study analyzed the impact of treatments used by Dan in his practice. Kalish is the author of three books, “The Five Pillars to Building a Successful Practice,” “The Kalish Method: Healing the Body Mapping the Mind” and “Your Guide to Healthy Hormones.”

Early in his educational experience, Dan spent two years in formal monastic training in Asia. He studied at a Zen monastery in Japan and also lived in a forest monastery in Thailand practicing mindfulness meditation techniques and transcribing Buddhist texts. These early experiences formed the basis for all his future work and led to a lifelong pursuit to bring the spiritual world’s healing power to bear in the patient treatment process.

Currently, Dan works closely with Dr. Richard S. Lord, focusing on curriculum development to advance clinical lab interpretation within functional medicine.

Justin Roche - Performance Coach, Fitness Specialist

We believe exercise is the key to health and longevity. Justin joins Kalish Wellness with a two decade background in designing exercise and fitness programs for all levels, from Olympic athletes to new moms. At Kalish Wellness, Justin is focused on ensuring your access to the most sophisticated fitness programs, whether you want to "get back in shape" or compete at the national level in your sport.

Justin's journey began with his studies at the renowned Irish College of Classical Osteopathy back 1996. In 2001, he refined his expertise, shifting to functional exercise and mobility training. Recognizing the pivotal role of functional movement in addressing the root causes of mechanical dysfunction leading to injury, he adopted a holistic approach to rehabilitation and reeducation through functional exercise.

To further address the problems he saw with his clients, Justin delved into the realm of nutrition to correct metabolic conditions hindering optimal performance. He also studied corrective exercise under Paul Chek, strength and conditioning with Charles Poliquin, and Power development with Pierre Roy, all luminaries in the field of fitness and rehabilitative exercise.

In 2006, Justin pursued a post-graduate program in High Performance Athletics at the University of Toronto. He then went on to become  a specialist with the High Performance Unit of the Canadian Sports Science Center, lending his expertise to national teams, Olympic athletes and professional athletes alike.

As Justin recognized the intricate connection between health and performance, he began to study functional medicine under the mentorship of Dr. Dan Kalish. Here, he utilized advanced lab testing to unravel metabolic and hormonal imbalances, offering personalized solutions to restore health and vitality.

Throughout his career, Justin has approached healing as a holistic journey. His methodology involves assessment of the factors impeding health, followed by targeted interventions to correct underlying mechanisms, replenish metabolic deficiencies, and optimize diet and exercise regimens.

Justin's unwavering dedication to empowering individuals on their path to wellness shines through in his comprehensive approach and steadfast commitment to fostering lasting health transformations.
